People and Churches Avoiding The War On Liberty

John Meyers writes today on his essay in Personal Liberty why he believes the government wants pot to be legal: here

"Given all the drugs, booze, gambling and social media, do you believe for an instant that Americans are willing to protest en masse? Nowadays, you may get a few dozen people out to save the whales or a black rhino, but you never see anything close in size to the protests that were stunning during the anti-war movement of the 1960s. And just try to imagine the strength of spirit it took for mass revolts that happened during the American, French and Russian revolutions. That zealotry doesn’t exist today."

He could not be more right in his perception of the masses. They are on the couch, watching some reality TV, eating potato chips. Or text-ING their friends about who said what about whom. Or working at home of work, because when the company hired you, they meant "we really own you 24/7."

Yep. Under the current "conditions", it's has been far too long to gather the population into anything that looks like a protest of government. let alone gather for a national protest of prayer. The will simply is not there. When I say conditions, I am also referring to a "church" which is more interested in decor, attendance and donations, than gathering people around a great cause: Speaking out against the many grievous assaults on liberty and the march towards socialism...where the State will ultimately decide if their "religion" is even allowed. Maybe this is the reason why they are silent in the public square. I recent poised a straightforward question to a local church leader who will remain nameless.

"Why do you not support our efforts and take a stand for the our freedoms in America?"

The answer was not what I expected like, we believe that God will intervene, or we are getting ready to do that very thing, or you are mistaken, no liberties have been lost. No, I got a very troubling answer.

They were concerned about their tax status and so as not to alienate any attendees.

What? I said. Tax Status? How does taking a stand for liberty effect your tax status and who cares if we lose a few socialist or liberals along the way?

Apparently, one liberal in particular, is one too many because this liberal makes large donations to the church and on the face of it, money must be more important than liberty. I have known for a long time that church leaders have been conditioned to stay away from political topics.  It's bad for business and it's where you can get hurt as in asked to resign. The natural tendency is for self preservation. Add to that that the IRS has circled some information that they will deny your tax status if a church speaks out politically. People also have opinions in the area of politics and they have passions for the causes they believe in. Too bad those passions are not for Jesus Christ in the same vigor as politics. What does it take to be a good "christian citizen?"  I am finding out it takes a church willing to take a small risk, for a huge reward. That reward is: Restoration of our Christian Nation.

How many pastors do you know that would take pot shots (no pun intended) at the likes of Hobby Lobby, Pill Roberson, or Chick Filet for standing up for what they believe in...God and this nation. When I read it I could not believe my eyes. At least we know which side of the bread they are buttered, pacifism. It all fits. There are those who don't get it: and never will, and yes, we get it that salvation is the final focus.

Well how about the two principal instructions Jesus gave us, "Glorifying God" and "Being a blessing to others."  You won't be able to do either under the new socialist state Obama and his socialist minions are trying to create. You will be lucky if you will be able to keep your Bible. Salvation is important yes, but so is the honoring God in the public square. That is what those entities are trying to do and Jesus was no pacifist, He overturned the tables in the public square and showed kings and princes how to pray.

The tide of progressive behemoth government expansion, and the loss of liberty that comes with control of the population, is a very real concern for many Americans. Those that know a different America, are more than a little concerned: for concern alone is insufficient to make a dent in what is being stripped out of the constitution and lost, let alone "reverse a tide."

The very conditions of growth economically over the last 50 years, has been the same money that fueled the expansion of "the church" and the missions that effect so many lives. All of this was paid for by those same attendees who had the liberty to do what they needed to do to advance their personal economic conditions, and a charitable heart to see Gods kingdom advance. Churches were built, lives were saved and the cause of God reached the darkest corners of the globe, from deep inside China, to the Amazon Jungle. It was the liberty, which allowed all this to happen. Older people know what it is like to be free of Government. It means the ability and the right to "change your stars" using the line from the movie, Dark Knight.

Only God can change this "train wreck" we are headed for, but it is good and vocal people who will bring about God's favor to do so. They will do so by causing and participating in a "Great Awakening." They will ask God everyday to restore our nation: and He will for He is a forgiving God. However, if we shake our "national fist" at God a few more times and sit on the couch a bit longer, He promises he is going to rain down a judgement on our nation which will make His judgement of Egypt seem like a Sunday picnic.

I am tired of churches, pastors and people who do not want to be truly free and are unwilling to do something to change the road we are on.  How about you?
All the best..."Ask God to change our stars"
